One-Time:
The designated beneficiary or estate receives $75,000 in equal installments over five years or in one lump sum of $56,044. Application is due within 12 months of incident.

Workers Compensation:
Volunteer firefighters are eligible only if the local governing authority provides coverage for them. For those who are eligible, 2/3 of their average weekly wages goes to designated beneficiary; minimum and maximum amounts apply. A spouse with no children is limited to a total amount of $125,000; benefits end if spouse remarries. Weekly benefits are payable for a maximum of 400 weeks from the date of injury.

In addition to pension benefits provided by department, the Georgia Firefighters' Pension Fund gives $5,000 to the designated beneficiary of a plan member.

Child's Education:
Public Safety Memorial Grant covers cost of attendance, minus other aid, for dependent children. Must be full-time undergraduate student enrolled in a Georgia public college, university, or technical college. Must be legal resident of Georgia and U.S. Citizen or permanent resident alien.

Law Enforcement Personnel Dependents Grant: Provides up to $2,000 per academic year. Must be enrolled fulltime in a Georgia private or public college or public technical college and be in an undergraduate program leading to a degree, certificate, or diploma.

| Education |
A full fire academy is operated by the State of Georgia through the Georgia Public Safety Training Center. Tuition is free for members of Georgia fire departments including volunteers. The Georgia State Firefighter's Association distributes training manuals, and offers a discount on the purchase of training supplies to members.

Volunteers are eligible for a monthly disability benefit for injuries sustained while on-duty. Firefighter must have been a member of the fund for at least ten consecutive years in order to qualify. The firefighter's average weekly wages are assumed to be the average weekly earnings of production workers in manufacturing industries for the preceding calendar year. |

| Retirement |
All firefighters are eligible to join the Georgia Firefighters' Pension Fund, which is funded by voluntary-dues and insurance-premium tax. All participating firefighters contribute $15 monthly. The program also receives a fraction of the 1% in-state annual insurance premium taxes. A participant may begin to be paid at age 55, with 25 years of pension service credit, and receive a full service pension of $754 per month. Firefighters with 15 years of service credit receive a reduced pension at age 55.
