Workers Compensation:
Spousal benefit is 45% of volunteer's average weekly wages in regular employment or a maximum of 60% if spouse has children. Upon remarriage, spouse receives 180 weeks of compensation or balance of 500 weeks, whichever is less.

Child's Education:
For dependents of full-time or part-time firefighters, including volunteers, killed or disabled in the line of duty. The state provides tuition, fees, on-campus room and board, and a maximum book allowance of $500 per semester or quarter or other period at Idaho public institutions of higher learning or public professional-technical colleges.

Limit is 36 months or four 9-month periods. Benefits shall not exceed 10 years past the date the dependent receives a high school diploma, or equivalency, or beyond the date the dependent turns age 30, whichever event comes first. The public safety officer must have been resident of Idaho at the time of his or her death.

Education Firefighters are eligible for Emergency Services Training and NFA courses through the Idaho Division of Professional-Technical Education free of charge. Other courses are available for a fee. Additionally, the Bureau of Hazardous Materials will provide HAZMAT training free of charge. The State Fire Marshal operates a video lending library.
