Employer Turns Back Time to Support Volunteers

Once upon a time, it was commonplace for companies to allow volunteer firefighters to leave work to run calls. However, that practice has largely disappeared, making it harder for volunteer departments to maintain adequate staffing for calls during the standard workday. There is one notable exception – John Deere is turning back the clock and making it easier for volunteer firefighters to punch out long enough to turn out for a 911 call. We hope this article will inspire other companies to consider what they can do to support their employees who are volunteer firefighters.
