Title:
Chief
Department:
Casper Mountain Fire Department
Location:
Casper, WY

Why are you an NVFC member?
To stay abreast of any changes, cares, or concerns coming down the pipeline. To see what hurdles other departments have and how they are working to remedy them. The Virtual Classroom is amazing. I also greatly appreciate the giveaway chances, especially being on a small rural fire department.

What is your occupation?
Fire chief

Why are you a fire service volunteer?
To be of service in my district as well as be of service to my entire county through our mutual aid agreement. Also being a role model for all the females in my community that they can be anything they desire.

What year did you join the fire or emergency services?
2012

What are your memorable moments as a firefighter or EMS provider?
My first year on the department, we had a catastrophic wildland fire. It was so rewarding to be involved and of service to my community. The following year, I went on a federal fire in Colorado. The sense of camaraderie among all the firefighters there was so rewarding. Also, any time we are asked to show up at any young people’s events and make that meaningful connection. Last year my firefighters awarded me a fire axe for all I’ve accomplished thus far to improve our department.

What contributions have you (and your department) made in your community?
Educating people on mitigation of their wildland-urban interface properties. We also hosted a fantastic birthday celebration for Smokey’s 75th birthday and plan on celebrating his 80th birthday this year. I also got my department to participate in the Fill the Boot program for the Muscular Dystrophy Association my first year and we still participate every year. This year, I am working closely with our Army/Air Force Museum to honor eight young World War II men who died in a plane crash on June 17, 1924.
