NVFC Supported SIREN Grant Reauthorization Act Signed into Law

On September 26, President Biden signed the SIREN Reauthorization Act (P.L. 118-84) into law. This law reauthorizes the Supporting and Improving Rural EMS Needs (SIREN) grant program through FY 2028.

The SIREN grant is administered through Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). It is the only federal program that currently exists specifically to support rural EMS operations. SIREN grant funding can be used by local and tribal government EMS agencies as well as nonprofit EMS agencies to train/educate personnel, obtain/maintain licenses and certifications, acquire EMS equipment, recruit and retain personnel, or develop new methods for educating emergency health care providers in the use of technology. SIREN awards are capped at $200,000 and grantees are required to put up a 10 percent local match.

Additional information on the SIREN grant can be found here.
