EMS/Rescue Section

The NVFC plays a significant role in promoting the interests of the nation’s volunteer EMS and rescue personnel. Some of the organization’s activities include:

EMS/Rescue Section. The NVFC EMS/Rescue Section provides volunteers with information, education, services, and representation to enhance their professionalism. You can join the Section for free when you become an NVFC member.

NFPA Committees. The NVFC has representatives on various NFPA committees including NFPA 450: Emergency Medical Services and NFPA 1917: Automotive Ambulances. Committees develop voluntary consensus standards that can be adopted by states or individual departments.

Collaboration with NHTSA. The NVFC collaborates with the National Highway Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) Office of EMS and regularly participates in various working groups and projects.

Legislative Initiatives. The NVFC promotes a number of bills that would benefit volunteer EMS personnel. We also advocate on behalf of grant programs that provide funding for EMS equipment, training, and apparatus. Learn more about all of our legislative initiatives.
