NVFC Releases Resource to Help Responders Prepare OSHA Testimony

Following the conclusion of the initial public comment period on June 22, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has begun the next step in the process of developing their new Emergency Response Standard to replace their existing Fire Brigades Standard. A virtual public hearing will take place beginning on November 12.

Anyone can testify at OSHA’s virtual public hearing, although written requests to testify must be submitted by September 27. The NVFC has developed a guide to answer frequently asked questions about how to request a time slot to testify and how to prepare testimony.

All those who request a time slot to testify by the September 27 deadline will be granted one. As a result, the virtual public hearing will potentially last weeks. Individuals or groups who request more than 10 minutes to present their oral testimony at the hearing or who will submit documentary evidence at the hearing must submit the full text of their testimony and all documentary evidence no later than October 18.
