President’s FY 2023 Budget Request Released

On March 28, President Biden sent his FY 2023 budget request to Congress. The President’s budget calls for $370 million for each of the Assistance to Firefighters Grant and the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response grant programs, a $10 million increase. The budget also funds the U.S. Fire Administration at $58.3 million, a $5 million increase. The budget funds the Volunteer Fire Assistance Program at $20 million, the same level of funding as in FY 2022.

“The President’s budget is the first step in the appropriations process,” said National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) chair Steve Hirsch. “The NVFC will continue to push for adequate funding of programs that benefit the volunteer fire, EMS, and rescue services.”
