What are your memorable moments as a firefighter or EMS provider?
One of my most memorable moments was an early morning fire. The house was burning and pretty well involved. My lieutenant and I were on a 2 1/2 inch attack line, and I remember how hard I was working, how difficult it was to advance that line. But I kept going, using every bit of strength I had. I remember the sense of pride and accomplishment after it was all over. It was a great feeling.
What contributions have you (and your department) made in your community?
Our department is very active in the community. We host an Easter egg hunt on the beach every year for kids. We participate in the Memorial Day parade. We deliver toys to all children with our Santas on fire trucks. We hand out new smoke detectors to the community. We have a junior firefighter program for area kids.
