I have been a firefighter (and previously EMT) for a total of 30 years. I originally joined a volunteer ambulance service in 1971 to gain more experience in EMS and help my community. I joined a volunteer fire department in that community later that year. I had to take a 10-year break when I moved to an area not served by a voluntary service until I moved to my current location in 1986.

What contributions have you (and your department) made in your community?
We provide fire protection, fire prevention, and public service to a wildland interface community, and the neighboring towns and county. During summer wildland fire season, we have sent personnel and equipment to other counties, states, and regions of U.S. to assist with fire suppression.
